Differential SAR interferogram generated from Sentinel-1A

#### Differential SAR interferogram generated from Sentinel-1A

_Image: Differential SAR interferogram generated from Sentinel-1A data by IREA-CNR (Copernicus 2015), over the Nepal region, stroke by the recent M 7.8 earthquake._

The interferogram is computed by exploiting the acquisitions of April 17th and 29th, thus including the main shock of April 25th (http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/eventpage/us20002926#general_summary) as well as some mayor after-shocks on April 25th (http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/eventpage/us2000292y#general_summary) and April 26th (http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/eventpage/us200029bt#general_summary).

The fringe pattern extends for an area of approximately 100 km along North and 130 km along East and clearly testifies a maximum ground displacement towards the satellite of more than 120cm, in an area close to Katmandu.
