ISEO 2016 – Dushanbe, Tajikistan
Presentation on the Hydrology Thematic Exploitation Platform
The 3rd International Symposium on Earth Observation for Arid and Semi – Arid Environments was held on September 19th – 21st. The Symposium is the third one in less than a year focused on shaping the Digital Belt and Road (DBAR) program.
In 2013 the initiative “the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road” (abbreviated as “the Belt and Road”) was launched. Earth observation will provide support towards scientific decision-making for sustainable development in the countries and regions along the Belt and Road. Highlights of the flood monitoring service currently provided by H – TEP were illustrated by Massimo Menenti with a presentation emphasizing the advantages of the cloud implementation and a video illustrating the actual sequence of operation from data discovery to model analysis. The presentation followed an overview of DBAR, particularly on the vision of the its growing and very diverse community and the need for a flexible data analysis platform. There was a clear consensus on the relevance of the TEP concept to bridge the gap from vision to actual services to the DBAR community.
