New video about cloud processing of Sentinel-1 data for seismic risk assessment, subsidence and water resources management in Indonesia

The European Space Agency is participating in the DigitalXADB Virtual Tech Expo event, with the virtual booth: “European Space Agency: the experience of cloud processing of satellite data to support disaster risk reduction”.

In the framework of the collaboration between Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the European Space Agency (ESA) under the Global Development Assistance (GDA) programme, a series of projects have been conducted to demonstrate how satellite EO can help better manage disaster risks. They are based on new capabilities such as the Geohazard Exploitation Platform (GEP) and the Rheticus® platform that are on-line environments enabling access to big data from space and generate geo-information such as precise terrain motion maps. Large collections of the free & open data from the Sentinel missions of the European Copernicus programme were used to support risk assessment or reconstruction planning in areas affected by earthquakes and land subsidence. Demonstrations and capacity development actions were conducted with nationally mandated user organisations in different sites in Sulawesi and Java, Indonesia. The advanced cloud platforms used have shown their ability to deliver reliable and actionable information for disaster risk reduction.

After the registration in the event you are invited to join the live session on Friday 29 October 2021 from 4:00 to 5:00 PM GMT+8 (from 10:00 to 11:00 AM CEST). In the ESA virtual boot participants will access the exhibitor video about cloud processing of Sentinel-1 data for seismic risk assessment, subsidence and water resources management in Indonesia. This video is the outcome from a joint effort between Terradue and Planetek Italia.
